Know About Methods For Storing Clothes

Storing clothes in better ways keeps the clothes in good condition and preserves the quality of clothes. Proper clothing of the garments saves the money and time needed for buying new clothes. There are different methods for storing the clothes and those are given below:

Hanging Storage:
The hangers used to store the clothes depends on the type of the clothes, like the apparel made up of light fabric can be hanged to the hangers made up of plastic or rubber, delicate clothing such as knitted blouses and dresses or items with sheer fabric should be hung with padded hangers. In hanging the suits, care should be taken and should be hung with shaped hangers to maintain the suit's shape. Slacks and pants should be suspended from the hanger's horizontal bar in order to prevent creasing at the knee area.

Seasonal Storage:
This type of methods are used to store the seasonal clothing, after cleaning the clothes store them in cloth or canvas garment bags instead, as they allow the clothes to breathe. These can be also stored in suit cases or trunks that are lined with bed sheets.

Flat Storage:
Flat storage is the folding of clothes, clothes like heavy knit sweaters, jackets, stretchy clothing, shawls, scarves, stockings, tights and bathing suits, etc can be folded flat. If there are creasing problems it is better to insert tissue paper in between the folds. When folding the garments, make sure to avoid folding them in the same way every time. To protect the clothing from the snags it is better to paint or line the storage space with paper.

Long Term Storage:
Long term clothes are those which are used only once. Wedding clothes, heirlooms, etc. come under this category. Instead of hanging them it is best to store them flat and separately. Cotton clothes can be stored in sturdy plastic boxes that are lightweight, waterproof and vented. The woolen clothes can be stored in a cedar enclosure made of heartwood. It is important to clean the long term clothing before storing them.

It is not just enough with having clothes. For these to remain longer and good, proper storage is very important.
