Differences Between System Software And Application Software

Application software is a program that runs on the computer. The good application software is based on the how well it performs the tasks and how easy it is for the users. The term application refers to the application software and its implementation. System software runs the hardware and computer system.

The application software includes database programs, word processors, and spread sheets etc. It is also called as end-user program. Where as system software includes operating systems such as devise drivers, severs, windowing systems, and utilities. The major functions of application software are internet functionality, and client server paradigm. The major functions of system software are allocating system resources, monitoring system activities, and file and disk management.

The different types of system software are loaders, linkers, and utility software etc. The different types of application software are Database software, multimedia software, presentation software etc. Outlook, word, text editors, and office programs are some of the application software. Explorer, desktop window manager, all window services are some the system software.
