Importance of Information Technology in the Education System

Information technology is the process of development, installation and implementation of computer systems and applications. In the present world information technology plays an important role in the education systems and the life of the students.

Impact of Education on the Society:
A student must be prepared by the educational institutions in such a way that when he comes out he must be ready to face the challenges in the society and job market focused on technology. Students must be be able to think creatively and accept new concepts in order to remain competitive and become a functional and productive members of the society.

Communication:
Information technology has improved the communication system in the schools tremendously with the use of Internet. Schools that utilize the internet based systems for student grades, attendance and homework have information available immediately for parents. E mail can be used by the parents, teachers and administrators to communicate effectively.

Teachers:
Teachers can use IT to communicate with the colleagues around the world with the help of e mails and also interact face to face through video conference. Teachers are able to enhance instruction with the use of technology which helps to maintain student motivation and attention. With help of IT teachers can also create online grading system.

Student:
IT used in the class room increases the quality of lessons and instructions. Internet provides up to date information to the students and with the current technology, students are able to interact with students and other cultures around the world.

Data:
With the use of technology, teachers, administrators and other stakeholders in the educational system can access and gather the data easily. Data ware houses in the schools are used to store the data related to discipline and attendance which will also be used to make educational decisions concerning the student.

IT has benefits in each and every industry, but in the education system, IT is seen to be playing a key role.
