Know About Enterprise Software

Enterprise software is used in the organizations like business or government organizations and it also commonly called as enterprise application software (EAS). It is the integral part of information system implemented in the business. Enterprise software provides tools useful in the business process such as online shopping and online payment processing, interactive product catalogue, automated billing systems, security, content management, IT service management, customer relationship management, resource planning, business intelligence, HR management, manufacturing, application integration, and forms automation.

Enterprise software is hosted on a server and it provides services for large number of the employees in the organization at a time. It also performs business functions such as order processing, procurement, production scheduling, customer information management, and accounting.

Enterprise software can be developed and implemented by an information technology team with in a company or it can be purchased from out side software developer. Along with this, installation, customization, and maintenance can also be outsourced to an IT consulting company. The other form of enterprise software is software as a service or software on demand, in which the enterprise software can be accessed by the company through the internet and the payment can be made as per the use. In this process, Software as a Service vendors maintain enterprise software on servers within their own company data center and the customers can access the software via the Internet.

Enterprise software can also be categorized based on the business functions it performs and these forms includes accounting software or sales force automation software. The enterprise software is also available according to the needs of different industries such as health care industry and the manufacturing industry.

Differences Between System Software And Application Software

Application software is a program that runs on the computer. The good application software is based on the how well it performs the tasks and how easy it is for the users. The term application refers to the application software and its implementation. System software runs the hardware and computer system.

The application software includes database programs, word processors, and spread sheets etc. It is also called as end-user program. Where as system software includes operating systems such as devise drivers, severs, windowing systems, and utilities. The major functions of application software are internet functionality, and client server paradigm. The major functions of system software are allocating system resources, monitoring system activities, and file and disk management.

The different types of system software are loaders, linkers, and utility software etc. The different types of application software are Database software, multimedia software, presentation software etc. Outlook, word, text editors, and office programs are some of the application software. Explorer, desktop window manager, all window services are some the system software.
